The pandemic afforded one peace, quiet and time to ponder on what is really important in life. Time froze. Human connections and traditions, taken for granted otherwise, were on hold. On musing on things past, my thoughts turned to items that have disappeared from our lives – the kooja which one always saw on train journeys in the south of India, along with the ubiquitous holdall (a type of sleeping bag), so I captured it on canvas, let’s hope that the Kanjeevaram and Kolams always stay in our lives!
