As a new generation takes the reins, our roots must not be forgotten.

Although I have grown up in Canada, my annual trips to India have kept the love for my culture quite strong. My artwork explores traditional themes and places an abstract modern twist. I’ve always  been drawn to musical fusions of Indian classical and Western music. This piece captures the essence of the ‘Navarasa’ using western instruments. Each colour signifies an emotion to the melody. The nine colors are:

Green (Shringara), White (Hasya), Grey (Karuna), Red (Roudra), Orange (Veera),

Black (Bhayanaka), Blue (Bheebhatsya), Yellow (Adbutha) and White (Shantha).
